In an totally one sided match, Australia beat Indian by 9 wickets in the Super Eight stage of T20 World Cup.

Earlier India won the toss and elected to bat first. They opened with G Gambhir and I Pathan but this gamble didnt pay well as Gambhir departed when the team score was just 21. All hopes were on the star of India, V Kohli but today he also failed and was out after scoring just 15. Yuvraj Singh and R Sharma also departed in quick succession leaving India struggling at 74/5. Dhoni and Raina then took the team score past 100 but could not accelerate the scoring rate at desired rate and finally Indian could manage just 140/7 in 20 overs.

Chasing 141, Australians openers S Watson and D Warner smashed every Indian bowlers to all corners of the ground. India’s only hope were the three spinners, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla and R Ashwin but Australian batsmen never allowed them to settle. The openers scored 133 for the first wicket before Watson got out after scoring a brilliant 72 off 42 balls (2×4, 7×6). Australians scored the winning runs with 31 balls spared.
