Earlier New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. M Guptill got out after scoring just 5 in the 2nd over. Soon the dangerous Brendon McCullum also lost his wicket leaving New Zealand struggling at 20/2 in 3.4 overs. England didn’t allowed easy runs but some late hitting by J Franklin (50 runs 33 balls) helped them post a total of 148/6 in 20 overs.

Needing 149 to win, C Kieswetter and Alex Hales scored 21 runs before Kieswetter got out which brought L Wright on to the crease. He was at his devastating best today and scored 76 off 43 balls (5×4, 5×6) and thus propelled England to a superb 6 wicket win.
